The St. Vincent DePaul Mission of Waterbury, Inc., is dedicated to helping the poorest of the poor. If you would like to be part of this great Society of caring people, please volunteer your time and talents.  Some of the opportunities we have available are listed below.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the respective SVDP locations below and ask for the staff member responsible for scheduling volunteers.

Homeless Shelter

  • Adults can assist in the Kitchen serving the evening meal to the Men.
  • Adult females can serve meals to the women and children or baby sit the children while Mom gets ready for bed.
  • Adults can assist at the front desk. Just like in a hotel all “guests” (the Homeless People) must be registered and assigned a bed.
  • Adult males can assist the “male guest” as they get ready for their nightly shower, by handing the guest a basket with clean socks, towel and pajamas.

Mature children are invited if accompanied by their parent. Keep in mind that we serve single adults and families. A sensitive child may become uncomfortable seeing a homeless child their age. Time frame Sunday to Saturday 6:45 PM to 8:15 PM

During the day from 7AM to 1PM, we can use help cleaning, making beds and sorting socks and pajamas.
